Çaykur Tea is Turkey’s biggest state owned tea cooperative, officially formed in 1983, its roots go back to early 1900’s. Caykur Tea produces more than half of all Turkish tea consumed in Turkey, in the port city of Rize in northeastern Turkey. Recently, the producer has made a move towards organic farming standards and have set up a state of the art manufacturing plant in Hemşin region and has since introduced the Organic Hemşin Black Tea variety to their product line up. Caykur Tea also sponsors the regions football team, Caykur Rizespor, which competes in the Turkish Süper Lig.

1 teaspoon (1.5g) of leaves per 6 oz (180 ml) of water, steeped for 5-7 minutes.
